Zapata - guide? (1 Viewer)

I've read in some reports that a guide is required to access some parts of Zapata, but other reports make no mention of it. Does anyone know the rules? Which locations require a guide?

I dont recall it being obligatory, but without one you'd struggle... Its a long time since I was there in 2005.
We used Orestes Garcia Martinez (El Chino) a well known and highly recommended birder & guide.

To go birding anywhere other than along the roadsides, it is obligatory to have a guide in Zapata. You can book one when you get there by going to the office of Empresa Forestal in Playa Larga.
