Unless the legs are covered in black mud, not a Dotterel (yellow-brown legs). But the plumage looks interesting, certainly - good supercilium and breast band. If it is a Dotterel, you should be able to get a lot closer, the last juvenile Dotterel I saw was down to under 3 m range :t:

Yes. They were not shy, but water in between !
 
1w Grey plover for me. I'd initially thought it looked a bit like an AGP, but the relatively hefty bill, dumpy appearance and shortish back-end convinced me otherwise.
