Sphinx Moths Mating (1 Viewer)

Hi Everyone, joined the forum today. Made an introduction here... https://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=391094

Have a growing interest in birds (after all these years!) but yesterday when I was coming into the house from the deck noticed this pair of giant moths on the side of the door (see attachments). A search on the web seems to indicate they are either a Big Poplar Sphinx Moth or a Modest Sphinx Moth. And I didn't seem to come across many images of these small bird-sized moths mating. They stayed connected for about six hours (and who knows how long before I saw them in the morning. One of them seems to have been around for a while. Notice the frayed bottom of the wings. But anyway, quite the impressive sight.
