Hi guy's totally new to this, what should I be carrying in my bag apart from binoculars? I saw a post about this earlier but can't find it now

Any help greatly appreciated

A field guide, Collins Bird Guide https://www.nhbs.com/collins-bird-guide-book is the best UK guide.
A notepad for making notes and sketches.
Possibly a recording device.
Possibly a camera.

or you could replace all of the above with a phone!

I would also suggest a camera for taking photos of a bird you don't know. This way you can post a pic in our Bird I D section of the Forum and you'll get a fairly quick answer

Follow experienced birders to check what they use like bino, scope, books, camera and how good it is.
