I may be relaxed but I'm not drunk....
The missus and I are doing a Nile cruise over Xmas, and part of this will be a day trip to Abu Simbel. I'm sure I saw an article by Rich Bonser about African Collared Doves at Abu Simbel, but "all" I can find is a recent report of African Mourning Dove there! Was I hallucinating, or are both a possibility?
If anyone has up to date info about the dove situation, or any other useful gen, I'd be grateful! Sooty Falcon would be rather nice; I'm hopeful that Nile Valley Sunbird and Senegal Thick-knee will be around Crocodile Island, but not sure about Blue-cheeked Bee-eater (wrong time of year?). Other than that, I guess it's just a case of keeping 'em peeled for the likes of African Skimmer, Lappet-faced Vulture etc, but not really expecting too much as won't be there for long, and will only be on organised excursions.
