round oak pub to poole hall fishing lakes (1 Viewer)

started off at 8.30 this morning for a walk along the canal. just past bratch locks the field on the right had loads of fieldfare and redwings well over a hundred of each i would say. some other birds along the canal were green woodpecker, kingfisher, buzzard, kestrel, heron, mistle thrush and bullfinch. when i got to poole hall i walked along the public footpath and the pools were completely frozen and i didn't see a thing on them until i got to the big pool and in the middle on the ice were two shelduck. i watched for a minute or two and then they flew east. on the way back saw a jay, small flock of goldfinch a dozen lapwing in a field and a little grebe near the bumblehole lock not bad for a walk along the cut . 34 bird types in total.
