Hello - I am Ann, and I have been birding for 30+ years. My husband and I do this together. We started as newlyweds when we lived across from a pond for several months. He is an avid hunter, so he has the eyes and ears to pick up on things the average person (including me) may miss; I love to read and study, so we make a good pair.

Last summer we visited the puffin colony on Machias Seal Island between Maine and Grand Manan, New Brunswick. Best trip for birds we've ever taken.

There is so much to learn when birding. Even after 164 species and all this time spent watching and studying birds (well, for about 15 years in there when the children were young, I was not active), I still feel like somewhat of a novice up against those who are really well-versed about birds.

I look forward to participating in this forum.

Hello Ann and welcome to the forum. One of the great things about birding is the continuous learning process.

Welcome to the site! It's great that you can share your love with your spouse. My wife thinks I'm a bit crazy putting out so many feeders, but she tolerates my hobby. I just love seeing new birds show up.
