Gull and feather identification UK (1 Viewer)

Hi all

Spotted this gull on the isle of Bute a week ago. It was on its own on a remote beach. It looked unusual. Or maybe not as I'm no gull expert!

I found this feather yesterday on a heather moorland in Northumberland. At first I thought it was red grouse but the white bits have got me flumoxed.

Thanks in advance

Whereabouts exactly, please?

We took the bus to Allenheads and from there set out for Killhope. The feather was found at the highest point of the walk near Killhope Law. Plenty of Red Grouse, but as yet never seen any Black up there!

Thinking about it, we may have crossed the border into Co Durham |8.|

Thanks! Yep, there's Black in that area (as well as Red) :t:

Oh, and the NL-DH border is on the crest line of Killhope Law.
