Possible Nesting Behavour (1 Viewer)

Red-breasted Nuthatches are busily doing something near the top of a telephone pole. It seems as if they may be excavating a nest cavity but I've never seen birds using a pole for that purpose. They have been going back and forth to the pole for several days now. Has anyone else seen birds using poles like this?
