Hello!
Asking for a friend - I've been browsing lists of Pakistan's species and my Birds of Pakistan book and have come up with... nothing! See photo - I thought it was some kind of juv/female francolin, but can't find anything that matches. Found at 4500m, date: 11 October 2017. Habitat is decidedly mountainous and arid. Not too far from China so maybe it was just ignoring those pesky human borders :) No idea about its behaviour, sorry.
In the photo it is held (no, I don't approve either) but it's definitely not captive. At least it gives a good idea of relative size...
Thanks in advance!

Definitely a a crake! I also think Baillon's - a migrant. Didn't know they cross altitudes like this! Very interesting observation!
