How to extend DSL service (1 Viewer)

The computer in my home office has phone DSL internet service. Can I extend this service to my daughter's computer in her bedroom by connecting a wireless router to the modem on my computer? Will both of our computers need wireless cards?

Is there any other way I can extend service to her computer? Thanks.

Easy to do!

You want a main computer to be hard wired to the router to avoid issues with connectivity in the event of problems. Wireless routers usually have 4 or so network cable connections too.

Connect the DSL modem to the routher. Then connect the computers via wire or wireless card.

Set up security on the network! A minimum of IP filtering and WEPS key are useful. Beyond that, there are many, many options. Hard to not be overwhelmed.

Linksys is the best brand IMHO, after trying 4+ brands. Netgear also decent. Avoid DLink like the plague! Avoid nonames, too.
