The Caspian(ish) Gull was the highlight of my visit yesterday morning. Also on Forge Mill Lake were the pair of Pintail (north of North Island), Oystercatcher, Shelduck, Grey Wagtail and Common Gull, with 8 Wigeon on the river.

Swan Pool held more Wigeon and Gadwall, together with good numbers of Little and Great Crested Grebe, and an adult Yellow-legged Gull.

Shelduck still on FML, Pintail pair, 39 Shoveler, 26 Pochard (but only 5 female) from the slipway per Matt Hadlington

1st-winter Caspian Gull present on Forge Mill Lake late morning/early afternoon. Also Oystercatcher, 5 Common Snipe and a Jack Snipe on the Marsh Pool briefly. A Willow Tit visited the feeders.

Caspian Gull today

Thought I'd post some (heavily cropped) images of the first winter Caspian Gull, after several chats with interested birders and members of the general public out for walks. Most features seem to be good for an "ideal Caspian"....just a few things not typical.

Caspian gull was here 930 am common gull oystercatcher jack snipe in marsh . Marsh is looking good at moment per Dave Waite
