Excellent Thanks Mark I am off to Santa Pola in 4 weeks Hotspur on the forum provided me with some good information as well, i'm so looking forwards to it, my first time abroad since I started birding and it seems like an excellent area.

Thanks... don't forget to go to El Hondo too, see my recent article in Opus for info on that area as well. Also worth visiting are the Clot de Galvany and El Pinet reserves, and if you are after Roller and Bee-eater, take the La Marina to Elche road, once you are past the roundabout with the "friendly lady" :eek!: just outside La Marina, take any of the minor roads to the left and you should get both species.
