Baader lenses? (1 Viewer)

I've read quite a few mention of the Baader Barlow lenses. Are they used for birding? digiscoping? astro-viewing? What is the advantage of such low magnification (e.g. 2x)

I think you may be misunderstanding something. The 2x refers to a doubling of the focal length of a scope not to magnification. Because magnification is a function of FL to double the FL length of a scope is to double it's magnification. Thus if you have a scope that gives you 60x a 2x barlow will, in that scope, double it's power to 120x.
