Hello and question (1 Viewer)

Hello! I recently replaced a bird feeder in my backyard in Brooklyn NY. The old bird feeder, which attracted a lot of birds, needed to be replaced. It was plastic with a metal bottom and the bottom rusted out. The new feeder is metal. I set it up with basic Northeast wild bird feed. But the birds are ignoring it. It's been about a week and they have not used it at all. Any suggestions to have them start using the bird feeder? Thank you!

Hi there and a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum :t:

We're glad you found us and thanks for taking a moment to say hello. Please join in wherever you like ;)

Just be patient they'll soon become comfortable with the new feeder. I'll bet ya that a Chickadee will be the first bird ;)

Hi Pete and a warm welcome from me too.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I hope to hear about all the birds you see when out and about.

Hi Pete and welcome to the forum. Nice of you to join us.

Welcome to BirdForum! I am sure you will find lots to interest you here, and I hope you enjoy your visits. Sometimes it can take birds a while to get used to a different or new feeder.

Thank you all for making me feel welcome, and for the good advice. Yes, patience was the answer. Birds have discovered the feeder! Thanks again.
