I am attaching pictures of a bird I can not identify. A flock of some 300 of these birds stopped over in Ocean Grove NJ a couple days ago.

Cam someone more knowledgeable than I identify this bird type ? I searched under geese and duck varities but came up empty.

Welcome to the forum, spaberle. You might see these Brant on the grass like that through March. If you have any further identifications, please feel free to post them.

A whole lot of Brant Geese!

Hi there and a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum :t:

And has Microtus stated, feel free to post photos of any birds you need identification help ;)

Brants arrive here in the fall from the high Arctic, and often use New Jersey as their winter resort. I think they’re beautiful, and when they take off they all make funny low, grunting chuckles.
