ID Large Falcon, Portugal (1 Viewer)

Gonçalo Elias

Portugal
This falcon was seen yesterday 13 October at Sagres, Portugal.

Initially considered a 2cy eleonora's then after looking at the pictures carefully it seems to show more features of a juvenile peregrine, yet the ferruginous colour of the underparts seem a bit atypical for this species.

Any thoughts?

IIRC the Mediterranean ssp. of Peregrine (brookei) has a darker underside than the nominate form, so it shouldn't be too unusual.
