Wild bird rescue Grimsby (1 Viewer)

Hello,

I am a Veterinary Nurse at a Vets in Grimsby. We frequently have members of the public bringing in uninjured young birds to us, on the advice of the RSPCA. However, when we refer them onwards to the RSPCA for care, they usually don't want to know. Are you aware of anyone who has the facilites to care for young birds? We of course do all we can here, but we are a small animal practice and do not have the equipment to care for juvenile birds.

Many thanks,

James

Hi James and a warm welcome to you.

One of our largest concerns is the number of new folks who find a young bird on the ground and therefore think it needs rescuing. We strongly urge them to bring the young, uninjured birds back to where they were found, telling them that the parent birds often feed the fledglings on the ground for a period of time. We also refer them to this link: http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=36564 I can well understand that you are probably inundated during the breeding season.
