Spinning feeder, is it ok? (1 Viewer)

I replaced my old feeder with a new squirrel buster plus with cardinal ring and all the birds that had come for years have stopped coming. Food is exactly the same

2 differences are the new feeder and second, this new feeder is hanging from a cable and will spin slowly when the very few birds get on it. It makes me wonder if the spinning is a problem for the birds. Given the squirrel buster mechanism, I can’t stop the spinning like I did with the previous model so I can’t really test this theory. The previous feeder hung in exactly the same location and from same cable but I tied a string to stop spinning but I’m not sure the birds really care about the spin or not.

This is fairly typical when new feeders are put up and in my case, it is always the Chickadees that are the first to land on a new feeder and then others follow.

Just be patient and they will become familiar with the feeder and start feeding again ;)
