Soft-plumaged Petrel?

There can't be too many options with the dark grey underwing/pale underbody combo - I can only think of 2-3
 
Soft-plumaged it is!

Saw a few in September on the Eaglehawk Neck pelagics plus one or two other goodies.

Do you get many out your way John?
 
Yeah, pretty common over here Rob, see them on most pelagics off Perth - Softies and Great-winged Petrel are by far the two commonest pterodromas off the south WA coast

One of the very few things our pelagics have over the east coast ones!! |:(|
 
How far outside Melbourne? Could be an Australian Raven, Grey or Pied Currawong, Satin Bowerbird.

Is the slight hook on its bill a clue? Should we see more prominent hackles for a raven?
