There seems to be a lot of excitement at the moment in Central Florida about the sightings of Lapland Longspurs.

Are these of particular significance for the state and/or time of year ?

Hi Grousemore,

They are arctic birds that don't normally winter any further south than Virginia on the US east coast - they'll be something of a 'mega' for Florida birders wanting to get one for their State list.

Same bird as Lapland Bunting of course.
