New Queensland FG (2 Viewers)

Having seen some of the photos and read much of the text I'm really looking forward to seeing New Holland's A Field Guide to Birds North Queensland written by my old friend Phil Gregory (author of the recent New Guinea FG & forthcoming "Birds of Paradise & Bowerbirds"). It covers over 400 species found in North Queensland each with 3-4 photos and c150 words per species. It's a nicely laid out book and the cover certainly looks very handsome.

Useful to have a field guide to one of the most popular states, especially in such a big country but why only the North?

I assume because north Queensland is very much a biogeograpic unit with many species confined to this region, unlike south-east Queensland that has a lot of species from the typical arid belts.

For the visitor though, I would say more useful would be a full Queensland guide as I think most birders combine the two parts.
