Windows update problem (1 Viewer)

Roy C

Occasional bird snapper
Each time I go the shut down my laptop (XP sp3) it warns there is a windows update and it will close automatically after updating. I realise this is a normal window message when an update is found but I cannot get rid of this one even though I let it run and turn off each time - it has been there for almost a month and even if I open windows 10 times in a row it still tells me there is a update each time I go to close down. Anyone have any idea ?

Visit Windows (or Microsoft) Update and check that the offered update is a valid one for your computer. If it is, try to update it manually. If it isn't, there's a way of hiding it from being looked for again.

Thank you Andrew I will give it a try.
