Carrion Crow or Raven primary?

Hope someone can answer this, as no text books nor internet search can supply the info.

I found a corvid primary today, 27cms long.

Is this within range for Carrion Crow - or more Raven sized?

Thanks,

H

From Fiedler, "Die Vgel Mitteleuropas sicher bestimmen", the wing length of Raven is >= 37.5 cm, while that of crows is < 35 cm. No values for the primaries are given, but maybe it's possible to draw a conclusion from the know proportions of the primaries to the wings.

Regards,

Henning

Wing 'lengths' in texts are for the folded wing, carpal joint to longest primary tip. As the non-feather part is pretty small, I'd say Carrion Crow (or perhaps Rook, of course), is more likely than Raven.

Otherwise, can you post a photo? There might be structural differences that can help.
