At first I thought I saw another small spider in the wash-hand basin, but after enticing it on to a piece of paper, on closer inspection it appeared to be a miniature scorpion - it was only about 1.5-2mm long.
Any suggestions?

I think what you might have there is a Pseudoscorpion.

Completely harmless, by the way.

Thanks for your responses David and Geoff. One thing I failed to mention was that it could move very quickly. It rarely stayed still when I was trying to take the photographs, therefore I am pleased to hear that they are harmless, although somewhat fascinating to watch, being so small.
