Dowles Brook, Wyre Forest (1 Viewer)

Could I just plea to folks to be mindful about putting info on the forum about some species in the Wyre at this point in time. There is a fairly good network amongst birders generally away from the internet for sharing site specific info. There are I'm afraid scrotes with hobbies that do not help some of the birds that have struggled in the Wyre in recent years..lets not make it easier than needs be for them :t:

Sorry Mark, I forgot that there are a*******s about, won't do it again.

Which One

Was by Dowles Brook yesterday and managed a poor shot of either a Willow Warbler or a Wood Warbler, anyone know which it is please?

Off to Wyre Forest tomorrow with the RSPB Oxford group and looking forward to catching a glimpse of some of these.

Great walk early this afternoon, highlights include:

Redstart, Pied Flycatcher, Spotted Flycatcher, Tree Pipit, Wood Warbler, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker (lifer!!), Great Spotted Woodpecker, Buzzard, Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Grey Wagtail, Blackcap.

Lots of the usual tits, a Goldfinch, Dunnock, robin, House Sparrow, Magpie, Woodpigeon etc.

The only notable absentee was Dipper, despite a lot of searching, we just didn't connect.

All in all a fantastic day.:t:

Great reports guys - keep the updates coming. Am planning a long drive up one day in the first week of June, target species pied fly, wood warbler and an LSW would be nice. Can't wait!

Much quieter of late. Nuthatches must have fledged as no sign of them around the nests. Wood and Willow Warblers still singing prolifically. Woodpecker nest still chirping away. Dipper busy up and down the brook as are Yellow Wagtails. No sign of the Pied Flycatcher on this visit but plenty of butterflies. Not sure which this one is.

Yes, this is a Speckled Yellow Day flying moth much declined in the Midlands.

Hi SB - more likely to be Grey Wagtails along the Dowles rather than Yellow.

Hi All,

Does anyone know if the pied flycatchers are still about and what are the chances of seeing on in the next week or so?

Thanks in advance
