This bird is an old photo with an ID i've now started to question. To not bias answers, i will not tell you what i originally logged it as. but please tell me what you see.

the bird was shot in Calgary, september 2013.

Impressive, I was way off on that one. All of these are from my very early birding days, but i'll keep them coming.

I've logged this woodpecker as Hairy. Bill small enough?

Yes, in Canada as well. If the outer tail feathers were pure white, it would be a Hairy Woodpecker.
 
Duly noted. Alright, this thread had now developed into something else, but i'll keep going.
