no, it's a Southern Grey Shrike (elegans) juv

What do you think about the age, sex and moult (see picture 3) of this Isabelline Shrike photographed on 29 November 2012 by a friend of mine at Oued Jenna, Aousserd. Any comment are very welcome.

Yeah, you are right Tom. Pied wings and tail exclude all Isabelline Shrikes IMO. This is young Desert (Grey) Shrike indeed.

Thanks both of you for the correction. I have searched some pictures from the web and saw the pictures from 2 Dutch Birding publications and said woooww an Isabelline Shrike! but one thing that puzzled me and I couldn’t find an explanation was the “black tail” (then I said OK, it’s most likely due to variation…). It was my fault since the observer has originally identified his bird correctly, then comes the great specialist in bird identification (that’s me! :clap:) to correct the ID of the bird.
