So yellow-crowned is by far the most common night heron here but yellow legs, a hint of yellow on the beak and an orange eye make me think this is a baby black-crowned?

I think the size of the bill is more Yellow-crowned. Very young Yellow-crowned have some yellow on the bill. The light colored spots also look smallish good for Yellow-crowned, and the stand up attitude.

Hi Isurus.

Your bird is a juvenile Yellow-crowned Night Heron for the reason mentioned by mb.

Also notice the thicker bill with an obvious upp-curved lower mandible tip - typicall for YCNH, straight in BCNH
