The Partridge and the Hare - and you are?

Someone mentioned Red-Legged Partridge to me yesterday on a post showing Grey Partridge, this morning I looked out the side doors ...... (must use the tripod)

Taken from about 100 meters, handheld at 1/160th sec, at about 1400mm on lens. Quality poor, but the bird just looks so lovely, I post it anyway.......

    Red-legged Partridge

This is a species I see at home... but usually running for cover! I've very few pictures of them at all. This one was tidying up underneath the feeder, so it was a rather shady spot under the trees.

    Red-legged Partridge

This was the biggest surprise on my recent trip to Denmark. It clearly had a past in a cage, but they seem to be seen with some regularity in Denmark these days.

    Red-legged Partridge

On one of our trips to Kinnordy, driving along a back country road, the RLP was playing silly b*s with the car. Eventually, though I managed to steer it into a field gate, and thought that would be the last we saw of it. But he played nice and let us take a picture.

AAP I'd forgotten all about this picture! I was sitting in the car and must have noticed a movement in the wing-mirror. Twisted round and managed to fire off two shots (the second one even more was hidden behind the posts!) It's interesting really, the partridge was less than 2 car lengths...

    Bright Light Bright Light

Watched the partridge move closer to the light and then dashed through it, managed a couple of frames before it returned to the darkness

    Red Legged Partridge

An unexpected bonus on a grey and damp day at Fowlmere, Cambs. last May. Never managed to get close enough for a photo before.

    Red Legged Partridge

Taken just ouside Norwich in a field this Partridge really showed well for a change. When the sun hit the bird the colours of late afternoon really complimented this shot.
