  1. A pair of blues

    A pair of blues

Oh you are naughty boys!! ;) OK how's about "hope you like my paridaes".... that'll teach you!!:-O I just like this picture with the two of them sharing the feeder. I've had two come to my window feeder the last week or so, but can't get a picture of them together!!
  2. Great Tit

    Great Tit

Hope you're not bored of tits already, but it was such a treat for me to see them and I liked this picture. Nearly at the end of the Balgavies pictures now, but I've probably got a view I want to show you and some fun ones!
  3. Robin

    Robin

It was lovely to see a Robin there too, though not completely co-operative. The only other picture I got of him, he'd turned his head, but that twig covered his eye... then he was off!!
  4. Greylag and Goldeneye

    Greylag and Goldeneye

Oh the trouble I've had with this picture. I cropped it without the Goldeneye in, then thought I liked it with her, so did a different crop. Then I was going to post it the other day, but couldn't think of a good title for it. I still can't think of a good title, so gave up and am showing it...
  5. Coal Tit

    Coal Tit

I managed to get a picture of one on his own this time and loved the feeding pose - he has a seed under his feet. He's quite well camouflaged with the reed bed in the background I think.
  6. Tufted Ducks

    Tufted Ducks

A break from the woodland .... here's a few ducks to look at. Just wish they could all have been a bit closer together. Oh well. We do have a light covering of snow here this morning, but nothing like what I've seen from elsewhere in the UK. A nice sunny day too.
  7. Great Tit

    Great Tit

It's so nice for me to get the chance to see these guys - they're such rarities to the garden here. Doesn't this one look smart and well fed too. I got a new car (well new to me!) it's gonna take me months to work out what all the buttons and things are LOL. It's snowing... not sure when I'll...
  8. Juvenile Blackbird

    Juvenile Blackbird

It was also nice to see a Blackbird there, this was the only one picked out in the trees and shrubs around the hide area. This youngster didn't hang around though - two quick snaps and gone!
  9. Blue Tit

    Blue Tit

I could have done a much closer crop of this one, but really liked the setting. That's the loch in the background.
  10. There must be something down there

There must be something down there

... caught these two apparently intently interested in something below!
  11. More tit action

    More tit action

Now I'm going to bore you silly with some tit pictures. It made such a change for me to get pictures of them in a natural setting that I couldn't stop clicking, and, I so rarely see Great Tits at home, it was lovely to see them at Balgavies (even if one of them didn't co-operate. ;) I did hear...
  12. Battle Stations

    Battle Stations

A large flock of Greylags arrived on the loch. They swam about quite happily for a while then had a battle with lots of noise and splashing water. The action was quite distant for this little camera so it's quite a big crop. It wasn't until I zoomed in that I saw two Tufted Ducks beating a...
  13. Roosting Cormies

    Roosting Cormies

These mostly appear to be young Cormorants, judging by the white underparts. This loch is many miles inland but they do seem to like that tree, there's always some on it. Kinnordy is only a few miles away as the crow flies and although I often see some there, there's never the numbers...
  14. Feasting tits

    Feasting tits

I bet you can't remember how to pronounce Balgavies, so I'll remind you..... BalgI!;) An autumn visit to this reserve near Forfar and a most enjoyable couple of hours was spent there.
  15. Great Tit

    Great Tit

On the way back from Montrose, we paid a very quick visit to Balgavies (Bal-gI remember LOL). A Great Tit was using the feeder, which was nice to see, as I rarely get them at home... but more about that on another upload.;)
  16. Saturday fun

    Saturday fun

... or No ends ... or I don't even know which way round it is! :h?: All I know is, it's a swan feeding and that seed head from the reeds seems to make a completely different shape to the bird. It confused me for ages, until I zoomed in!
  17. Reed Bunting

    Reed Bunting

I heard this guy singing but it took me ages to spot him in the reeds. A bit distant and a heavy (very heavy) crop! But my first view of one for ages.
  18. Great Tit

    Great Tit

From Glen Moy we moved down to Balgavies (pronounced Bal gI - just in case you've forgotten;)) I have to get Great Tit pictures when I'm out, as they rarely visit the garden here. There is a row of feeders below the hide which attracts quite a few birds but not always easy to catch a picture...
  19. Saturday fun

    Saturday fun

... or I'd have been pleased if it had been a Bittern! We don't get Bitterns breeding in Scotland unfortunately and only the odd individual coming for the winter. It's a Mute Swan, which had been out on the water (head down virtually all the time of course) then waddled into the reed bed in...
  20. New Year landing

    New Year landing

Happy New Year everyone, thank you all for your lovely greetings over the holiday, very much appreciated. I think this is the last of the Balgavies pictures from October! There's sometimes been a red-eared terrapin sitting on those logs, but not that day.
  21. Who invited you!!?

    Who invited you!!?

Another from that very sunny day at Balgavies. This was the only time the Coal Tit appeared, so pleased to get him. Sorry to be so quiet, it's so difficult to concentrate and keep awake with all these pills. I'll try and pop in sometimes.
  22. Blue in the green

    Blue in the green

Thanks so much for all the lovely words of encouragement, you're all so kind. I'm still very much struggling with it though. I saw this bluey fly into the reeds at the back of the feeders - a very heavy crop as he was really quite distant.
  23. Splash down

    Splash down

Another flight-shot attempt, but he landed LOL. I'll likely be a bit quiet for a week or so, as I've got sciatica again which means that sitting is rather uncomfortable and the doc has put me on pills which make me very sleepy. Promise I'll try and keep an eye on your pictures, but may not be...
  24. Goldeneye

    Goldeneye

The only disadvantage of going to Balgavies is that the water is a little distant for my small camera but on the plus side the Goldeneye come a little closer than I've ever been lucky enough to see them at Kinnordy. And, for once, two ducks both behaving by both being upright on the surface at...
  25. A bun in the oven?

    A bun in the oven?

.... surely not!!!! Couldn't resist showing you this picture from Balgavies - he looks sooooo pregnant! A couple of frosty mornings and the birds seem to be returning; but just seemingly casing out the joint rather than coming in to feed. A start though.
