coal tit

Hi everyone! First post from me & my feathered friends

Hi all. Newbie here. I've recently moved to North Wales, having never had a garden before (at least, as an adult home owner & out in the country). I've built what I'm amused to call my "feeder array" from a mixture of scraps, with bought & scavenged feeders. I have fat balls, mealworm...

    It's raining again!!!

Poor wee Coal Tit - looks like he's being dripped on LOL This was taken at our Mause feeders. Today was lovely and sunny, though quite windy; and I was entertained by a farm hand driving his tractor round the field turning the cut grass (presumably for hay).... he was being trailed by loads of...

    Do you think he'll mind....

..... if I go and get some? At our Mause feeders, this cheeky Coal Tit, looked like he was sizing up the risk of being caught by the Chaffinch LOL. Saturday fun

  5. Taken aback?

    Taken aback?

Perhaps by the amount of nuts? Or is that perch pin a tad too short even for a wee Coal Tit?

    New drinker

Down the road at the Craighall feeders; when we have an empty coconut, we put it atop the gate post (it has a bit of a hole at the top where the wood has rotted) and put some water in it (if I've got some in the car). Otherwise it might be some seeds. It wasn't there for long when a Coal Tit...

    The favourites with friends

Everybody loves Long-tailed Tits, so I can't resist photographing them when I catch them at the feeders. Just in case you're not sure, there's 4 and a bit of them, along with a Coal Tit and a Great Tit. Strangely we've not had them back at the Mause feeders up the hill this winter yet, even...

How strange.... I did a look back through my Gallery and I don't seem to have shown you a picture of a Coal Tit yet from the Mause Feeders. So not before time I give you this... how could I have over-looked them for so long - those feeders have now been up a year!!

    Why no eggs?

I have a bird box with camera that is being used by coal tits this year. The pair have made the nest and the female spends her nights inside the nest for over a week now, but there are still no eggs being laid. In the past, I would start seeing eggs after a couple of days after the female began...

    Working on backgrounds.

I am really enjoying my garden bird photography at the moment. I am beginning to get a few different birds on the perch and I am now working on improving the background and the perch. The background is actually a large piece of hardboard that has been painted. To begin with I just tried...
