    Caterpillar ID (CT 6/25/23)

    hello all! someone sent me a picture today and asked if i could identify this caterpillar, but i'm kind of stumped image was taken on 5/25/23 in Connecticut, USA the eyespots remind me of a swallowtail caterpillar but the color is throwing me off, any insight?

    Northern bobwhite or something else

    Saw this interesting bird in Milford, CT today March 8. Was picking around grass and mulch near a very busy road for about a bit, then flew off. Very rapid wingbeats and low level flight. I thought it may be a northern bobwhite but the vertical brown stripes/bars on its side are throwing me off...

    I stumbled upon a goldmine that was right under my nose! We drove by Hammonasset Beach State Park, one of my favorite birding haunts, to see if the ospreys had returned. They had, and, I found a great birding stand - that I never even knew was there! Can't wait to test drive it: this state park...

    I love this little inlet for it's vast amount of wildlife, but it also hosts some amazing sunsets. I never see the same thing twice there.
