This little fellow followed me along the Bridgewater Canal in Lymm.
Seemed like he was all alone, but he looked healthy enough and was cheeky enough so I think he was okay ;-)
I know it's a 'cute' shot, but hey they ARE cute ha ha
A fellow birder told me, "I'll never photograph another Mallard", and I understood. "Common" birds aren't quite good enough for a guy like me. It turns out that any bird can be beautiful in the right setting.

This cute little duckling was not really on it's own but surrounded by its brothers and sisters (and mum) and only for a fleeting moment I could frame it on its own on this beautiful but crisp morning.
I shot several pics of this female and the gaggle of ducklings that was following her but realized on futher inspection that one was a young merganser . I didn't see any other mergansers in the area so maybe this one was adopted.I'm pretty sure ducks can't count so this addition to the flock...
So adorable - Mom had 6 or 8 of these little beauties floating around a pond. They were only a day or two old from the size of them, and this one was already chasing some mallard drakes around, biting their tail feathers. Hilarious.
This little guy was motoring about devouring insects, unfortunately there is some motion blur, but it's the only one I have were you can see the intended target.
There were several broods of Mallard ducklings at Pennington yesterday with most only being a few days old. I simply cannot walk on by without taking a shot or two as I have such a soft spot for anything small and cute.
