Indigo Bunting, What are you doing?

We had a pleasant surprise today as we took a walk around Curry Hammock State Park (in the Florida Keys). This Indigo Bunting flew by and spent a few minutes playing Hide-and-Seek, but I did manage to get this picture.

Found this Indigo Bunting along the pereimiter road at the Saratoga National Battlefield Park.
  9. Song Sung Blue

    Song Sung Blue

No batteries are required to keep this color bright. I paid a high price for this photography session though. My legs and waist are covered with bug bites (over 100; I think that these are Harvest Mite larvae--Genus:trombiculae)--a reaction I get only in July/August. A bad scene for a beauty...
  10. Deep Blue

    Deep Blue

The Rainbow is R-O-Y-G-B-I-V; that makes this bird the "I" of the rainbow. From my house I could hear him singing, so I went on a search and found him in this white pine tree. Awesome color.

    Puff It!

This is a defensive posture for the little guy. His thought is, "make yourself bigger and the bad man will go away." It is accompanied by the fluttering of wings. The lighting was bad in these shots--rainy, cloudy, and fairly dark, which is not fun with a 400mm lens.

Yard Birds #2 Male Indigo Bunting

This beautiful bird only visits us during the summer. This male is still somewhat in transistion between winter and breeding plumage.

This handome devil showed up for the spring and I got a few shots of him at the feeders and this is my favorite.

I was lucky enough to have an Indigo Bunting visit the thistle feeder on our deck.

Not common in British Columbia, this bird is considered as a vagrant. It was found in Colony Farm in Coquitlam where it mixes with a group of Lazuli Buntings.

    Indigo Bunting

This shot was taken from quite a distance and cropped so the focus is soft. But being such a beautiful bird I say what the heck it`s a soft focus branch shot or a nicely focused feeder shot.
