    I don't think I've ever seen an adult male Carduelis psaltria as bright yellow as this one was at Mission Trails Regional Park, San Diego, CA, 04-15-05.

    I'm not sure what these flowers are, but butterflies really like them and this guy was so into them that he feasted on them for about 10 minutes while I stood less than 10 feet away. Goldies are normally pretty shy away from feeders in my experience, so I was happy to watch the show.

    Okay, someone explain this to me. They are eating the leaves on this sunflower - see how ragged they are? I haven't researched this yet. Pretty interesting.
