    Male parent and juvenile red-bellied woodpeckers. They were both feeding on suet on the side of the tree, and then the juvenile went into "feed me" mode.

    Our most common woodpecker, though probably one of the most misidentified - the red on the back of the head is usually the identifying mark people see, and they are often called red-headed woodpecker - a more rare species in our area. You can't often see the red belly that gives this species...
