  1. sanderling

the poor bird only has one foot, but it didn't seem to be too much of a handicap, it was running as fast as the other sanderlings present; the fact that they are lightweights probably helps a lot.

    Wader Trio

Looking back through my pictures from a day at the coast, at the time I didn't even realise I had three species lined up like this!

    Sanderling

This species has one of the most cosmopolitan ranges of any bird, being found during migration and winter along all the coasts of all the continents of the world except Antarctica. It breed in the high arctic. These are in winter (basic) plumage, all white below and uniformly pale gray above...

    On the beach.

A couple of Sanderlings I believe.

    Sanderling

Sanderling on the beach this morning - constantly disturbed by loose dogs though.
  24. Three Peepers

    Three Peepers

Left to right: Least Sandpiper, Black-bellied Plover, and Sanderling. I think. The various little sandpipers don't seem to be too concerned with staying sorted out by species. The only conflicts I saw were Sanderlings chasing each other.
