    A long distance migrant from breeding grounds in the High Arctic. This is an adult in basic (non-breeding) plumage. These shorebirds may be confused with Baird's Sandpiper, but Baird's are much browner with a brown bib and lack the gray ventral streaking seen here.

    Been chasing one of these down for the last three day trying just to see it if not get some pictures. Turns out that it worked out for both. Lot of fun to see and successfully identify after looking at lots of semipalmated and baird's sandpipers.

    Flocks of these sandpipers were foraging along the strand lines on the gravel/cobble beach at the west end of Bleaker Island. No member of my bird photographer group was a sandpiper expert, so I would appreciate your confirmation of my ID of this bird.
