Since the recent retail price reduction of the 12x42 after the release of the 10x52 and 14x52 , what’s a realistic resale value for a pristine, or near pristine pair ?

Why don´t you go by %? second hand to be worth could be around 30% reduction of new. The higher the better but and something reasonable could be around that. Reasonable for someone to sell and reasonable for someone to buy.

Do it the easy way, multiply the street price by 0.7.

I would expect 1k below new - just another way to come to a 30% reduction in this case - and assuming you find a buyer to do a privat sale; a dealer should offer less to cover his costs + margin
