2 Birds - Newcastle England (2 Viewers)

Hi Phil and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators. Indeed this is a female Chaffinch. You can find out more about them in our Opus article: Common Chaffinch - BirdForum Opus. You will see they have a double white wing bar, which no other finch in the UK has, and it's usually quite clear even in poor light. The first image, though, doesn't show that feature, so it's just getting used to seeing them that helps.

On that article you can also listen to their song and get used to hearing it. Also click on the Gallery search and look at more pictures in our Gallery - you'll soon become expert at picking them out!! ;)

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.
