Certainly looks like a Neotropic to me. We had one here in New Jersey a couple of years ago and it stayed for quite a few months. Ours was a juvenile.

Sparrow looks like an immature White-crowned to me but tough call from these two photos. Maye a sparrow expert will weigh in on the ID.
