A Swift or Swallow ? I didn't know, so i found out. Now I'm hooked... And...hello to all here. (1 Viewer)

I'm no expert, far from it. A novice birdwatcher for sure. 😊
I've always had an interest in birdwatching but work and life always seemed to get in the way.
Now I'm older and wiser I've got more time to myself, so i joined the nearest wetlands and the more times I go the more my interest grows.
Sitting in a hide or a nice spot with my very old and not very good binoculars looking at birds that I'm not even sure of is just so relaxing and so enjoyable.

I stumbled across this site after I was looking for some basic birdwatching info. 😎
This place looks the perfect place where I can learn lots of new stuff. I'm looking forward to reading all your posts and viewing some incredible pictures of our feathered friends.

I might have a lot of questions for all you experts out thereπŸ‘
I can now tell the difference between a Moorhen and a Coot and a Swift and a Swallow, that is how much of a novice I am.🀣

Welcome to Birdforum. I hope you enjoy your visits.

We are all learning all the time. 😊
Thank you.

I've been looking at many threads here and I must say, wow ! some of the pictures I've seen are absolutely wonderful. 😎
It must be such a thrill to actually capture these wonderful birds on film. Every time I've tried to take a picture of a bird I've seen by the time I get my phone out and set they're gone :D
Lesson number one must be....have patience 😎 oh ! and a decent camera 😊

Some of the pictures of birds from around the world are simply awesome.
I never even gave it a thought about birds in other countries :D
To see them for the first time even in a photo is just fantastic !
I've just seen a picture of a little, tiny humming bird from the USA in someones hands and it was purple...the bird not the hands btw.
Soooo cute ( once again, the bird not the hand πŸ˜„)

I'm going to have to check out how much credit I have left on my credit cardπŸ€ͺ...I need some better binoculars 😎

Thank you very much, I appreciate the warm welcome.
I must admit, I'm starting to regret all those saturdays and sundays I used to work overtime instead of going birdwatching.
I have a lot of time to make up.
I seen a Jay for the first time the other day, i though they were really rare until i looked it up.
It still gave me a thrill and unfortunately my jump for joy at seeing it scared the fella off !
I'll learn :D
