Advice on a birding trip in Uganda (1 Viewer)

It is totally possible to do Uganda without a birdng tour guide. We self-drove to many of the birding spots in 2016-17 and only occasionally hired guides. These were mostly in national parks such as Kibale and Bwindi where driving is not an option. In parks with dangerous creatures the rule is keep your distance from the animals and don't get out of the car. We drove our own ancient RAV4 or hired a larger vehicle from Roadtrip Uganda - in fact RTU bought our car when we left so I hope it lives on and is having fun without us.

Avoid driving in Kampala. See Bukoba Steve's Uganda birding blog for the start of our 10 month stay in Uganda. We had a year in Tanzania before this so the experiences were mostly not totally new to us.

If you want a guided tour I would suggest Unique Birding Safaris and Tours to Africa and Beyond (ask for Prossy).
