According his Ph. D. thesis Communication and reproduction cycles of the Adelie penguin David George Ainley. Probably in there we can find his birth year as includes vita.

In my MS he's (one of the World's foremost experts on Pelagic Birds) David George Ainley (born 1946), US ornithologist, Marine Biologist, environmentalist, etc., etc.. , commemorated in the Vernacular/Common name Ainley's Storm Petrel for Hydrobates/Oceanodroma cheimomnestes (alt. ainleystormsvala, in Swedish, elevated to species level in 2016).
