Hi folks,

Saw this one last week and would be grateful if anyone could ID. Coming from a snakeless land I find them all hard. Is it possibly a Montpelier?

Many thanks,

Dave

PS Around 1 metre in length

Hi Dave.

It certainly looks like a Montpellier to me. This is one of the largest and most common snakes that we have in Spain, adults growing up to about 5 ft.

Regards from Doñana.

John.

Yep, not much detail as picture is quite small but I'm pretty certain that's a Montpellier. Everything looks right for that species.

Regards,Lee.

John & Lee,

Many thanks for that.

Regards,

Dave

PS Sorry re small pic, uploads restricted to 800x800
