Are birds of prey dumb? (1 Viewer)

unless those birds can fly, live prey does nothing for them.good idea though, i was thinking that too. give them alittle exercise.

Not a good idea. Those birds even though they are resident birds under the supervision of licensed rehabbers or Vets could hurt themselves with some object like a toy. The birds are there because there is something wrong with them caused by an accident and can not go back into the wild because they can not function in a normal manner so unless these birds meet a condition that the rehabber considers beyond help can they be put down.
In the meantime they can do a lot of good by being shown to the public at shows and giving out info on a species by educating the public. The birds I have sat with were alert and watched my every move as I talked low and moved around their flight cage slowly to get different photos for Foster Parents. Most people that work with these birds are dedicated and attend the birds every day even weekends and holidays. Besides the right to keep living these birds have laws protecting them also.
Do then a favor and make a contribution to the rehab center near you
Lou
