Hi everyone, I'm not sure of this birds ID and was wondering if anyone know for sure what it is please. Was shot south just out of the Adelaide metro area, S.A.

That certainly looks like a shrike thrush [grey thrush]. We have a pair nesting in our 12 gallon drum letter box, with one chick at the moment.

My error,I hadn't realised that I could get a bigger picture by clicking on the thumbnail and once I did that it was obviously not a shrike thrush. It does now look like a Golden Whistler, more the juvenile than the female, but it could be either?

Good pic and good call, I think by those who recognised it.

The bill is far too short for a Shrike Thrush and the shape etc. not right. With the red in the wing and the overall appearance it looks like an imm. Golden Whistler.

I would go for immature Golden Whistler too. There should be one in the Gallery somewhere in the 'dark mists of time'.Neil.
