Paul Winter
Three beetles from Llanos de Matagallar today, 22.05.23
Pretty sure the first is the oil betle Berberomeloe majalis - at least 50mm , but the next 2, each 25-30mm, I don't have a clue.
Any pointers gratefully received.

I think 2 is Akis Lusitania and 3 Akis sp . The Oil Beetle looks right to me , recently the powers that be have started to split this species into regional sub-species but I think your ID is correct.

Apparently the oil beetle is Berberomeloe payoyo. A paper from 2020 was pointed out to me by a friend working on the Málaga Odonata atlas and I've read some of the 64 pages now I'm back home!
