While I'm hoping to sneak away with my bird bros somewhere in the next year or so, most of my near-future travel will be family oriented, as I have a 2 1/2 year-old, 3 month-old and non-birding spouse.
Keeping in mind affordability, safety and relative ease of travel, which locations would top your lists? Costa Rica seems like a winner, especially given my location in Texas.
I've found many of the easy targets in the ABA area (465 species, so plenty left to see, but most of the easy/widespread targets on the eastern half of the continent, Colorado and California), did a full-day tour in the Yucatan and birded the USVI a bit, but everywhere else remains unexplored.
